About Me

My photo
In August 2006, I experienced an unfortunate accident that was life-changing; a domestic accident involving the use of aromatherapy that burnt 56% of my body ( 2nd - 3rd degree burns on both my legs, both hands, a bit on the back) and very luckily (God is merciful) my face suffered flash burn and got back to normal after 4 months, 10% of my daughter's and 10% of my husband. I was hospitalized 2 months during which I went through surgical debridment and skin grafts in 5 location of my body. Words just can't express the trauma I went through and the stress I cause my family. Heavily burn survivors go through a long period of rehabilitation and family support and care is of vital importance to the patient. Burn recovery is indeed long and painful, requiring patience, dedication and determination. With proper therapy and attention,

Immediate action to be taken after a burn incident/accident!

The first thing one should do after being burnt is to run clean water over the burnt area.  For minor burns, you could use over-the-shelf burn cream such as many brands sold over the counters in the pharmacy.  The ones that I know are Benarzene (contains silver potassium - 20%).

For serious burns (2nd - 3rd degree, over 30% bodily burn wound ), go to the doctor immediately.  It would help greatly if the would is cleaned with clean cool running water. Cut off any clothing if it interferes/happens to be in the wound area.
